How Sunamp Heat Batteries enhance solar PV

  1. Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels convert the sun’s light energy (photons) into direct current (DC) electricity.
  2. The current flows into an inverter which is used to convert the DC electricity into usable 240v alternating current (AC) electricity.
  3. The AC electricity is fed through a generation meter into your distribution board to supply power to your home or business. This reduces your need to buy-in electricity from your energy supplier during the day.
  4. When solar generated electricity exceeds your immediate electricity demand a control system will divert the excess power to charge the Sunamp heat battery* if you have a gas combi boiler. This enables excess solar generated electricity to provide you with hot water as required throughout the day, creating savings on both your electricity and hot water heating bills.
  5. Any surplus electricity (i.e. when the heat battery is at its maximum temperature) is fed back into the National Grid for use by others.
