Automatic doors specialists Record UK has partnered with Forster Group to deliver a rooftop solar PV system at its headquarters and main production facility in Blantyre.

As Record UK’s core manufacturing hub, the Blantyre facility plays a key role in producing the company’s automated door systems. Housing CNC machinery, fabrication, testing, and assembly, the site operates with naturally high electrical demand typical of industrial manufacturing.

Home for the commercial roofing and wall cladding company is a 314 sq ft building, providing office space and a workshop. Keen to reduce energy costs and maximise on the benefits of solar energy, they partnered up with Forster Group.

Having worked with Forster Group on several industrial roofing projects over the years, North East Contracts already had a trusted relationship with Forster Group. In May 2024, Forster Group completed tgeh installation of a 16.4kWp roof-mounted solar system and further supported North East Contracts in securing an intrest-free Business Energy Scotland government loan, allowing the company to fund the investment.

Over the first six months, the solar installation delivered an energy saving of 60% per month, with annual savings projected at approximately £2,000 off the company's energy bills.
North East Contracts also gained access to the manufacturer's online monitoring system, giving them real-time visibility of their energy generation and consumption.

Forster Group completed a major installation for Fife Creamery in July 2024, marking the company’s biggest project to date for a client in the food and drink industry. Following an investment of £230,000, Fife Creamery appointed Forster Group to install over 700 roof-mounted solar panels for its Innovation Hub and refrigeration warehouse in Kirkcaldy.
